Information on the Battery Act (BattG)

Dear customers,

In connection with the sale of batteries or rechargeable batteries as well as devices containing them, we would like to inform you of the following important information in accordance with the requirements of the Battery Act (BattG):

1. Obligation to dispose of waste

Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. End users are legally obliged to return used batteries to appropriate collection points or return systems.

2. Return options

You can return used batteries and rechargeable batteries free of charge to public collection points or to retailers. Alternatively, you can send them back to us. In this case, we will reimburse you for the postage costs. The exact address for return shipping can be found in our legal notice.

3. Labeling of batteries containing harmful substances

Batteries that contain harmful substances are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out garbage can. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Below this symbol you can also find chemical names of the harmful substances they contain:

  • Pb: Battery contains more than 0.004 percent lead by weight.
  • Cd: Battery contains more than 0.002 percent cadmium by weight.
  • Hg: Battery contains more than 0.0005 percent mercury by weight.

4. Your contribution to environmental protection

By returning batteries properly, you are making an important contribution to protecting the environment. Batteries containing harmful substances can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and valuable raw materials can be recovered.
